Hello everyone!
David Gonzalez was kind enough to introduce me earlier. My name is Moises Huerta and it is an honor to be offered the position of Crisalida Community Arts Project Manager. I have met and continue to meet some very talented, warm, and humble artists from the East Valley. Some of the contributing artists I have met are Oscar Guevara, Carlos Garcia, Maria Galaviz, Francisco Rodriguez, Alma Ochoa, Luis Fausto, and poet Arturo Castellanos who is part of a band that includes Jose Cardenas, Rocky Reyes, and Osvaldo Galvez.
Francisco Rodriguez read a poem in Spanish that was deeply touching. More on that from David in a separate blog.
On Thursday morning we unveiled the Crisalida Van which is a work of art in itself. We brought the van to The McCallum Theater for the staff to enjoy. There were artists showcasing their art as well. And of course we had great Mexican food. It was a great day for this event and everyone was excited to see the inside and also the outside of this new vehicle which will help us to have increased visibility in our communities of Indio, Coachella, Thermal, and Mecca.
Thank you for spreading the word among friends about our many projects and for your continued support. This is what our East Valley has needed and wanted for a long time and we now have a great opportunity for artistic expression and visibility thanks to the efforts of the McCallum Theater and the talents of David Gonzalez. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve you. Enjoy the pics!

Francisco Rodriguez may be soft-spoken but his poetry leaves a profound impression. |
David Gonzalez felt so touched he summarized the gist of Francisco's poem which was read in Spanish. |
